I started Memorable, then called Digital Transfer Systems, in 2002.
I have had the honor of helping many people preserve, organize, and enjoy their memories across every picture and video format imaginable.
In 2012, I started work on a very important family digitization project for a very nice gentleman named Carlos.
Carlos entrusted me with home movies going back to the 1950s on 8mm film, from both him and his wife’s families.
Fast forward to 2021: Carlos comes in with a new project where he aims to digitize home movies from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s on VHS, VHS-C, and MiniDV.
A lot can happen in 8 years.
In my case, I married, starting learning how to program, enjoyed the birth of my first child, released my first app called Reflectera, went through a 4.5 year divorce, and excitedly released a new product I love using everyday, called Memorable.
Carlos was only interested in transferring his tapes to an external hard drive, the same one he purchased in 2012 for his film transfer project.
Like most people, he wasn’t familiar with the new Memorable application.
I started telling him, “It’s better than Apple Photos, Google Photos, and Amazon Photos because we create a timeline from your current plus past photos and videos.”
He turns and looks at me: “Better than Google Photos? I don’t believe you! They’re a trillion dollar company! Who did the design?! Who did the programming?!”
I get out my laptop, open Memorable, and one second later click on a picture of my mom.
As Carlos sees my mom’s whole life organized, from 2021 all the way back to when she was a teenager, a toddler, and even as a baby in 1954, he takes out his wallet and signs up for a decade of unlimited Memorable through 2031.
